About Cookies
Cookies and similar browser technologies are small mechanisms that help websites remember information, provide core functionality and, when enabled, support optional features such as preferences, audience measurement or marketing. Different technologies work in different ways, but they are often grouped together under the general term “cookies” in website privacy notices.
AusHotelGuide uses local browser storage to remember the choices made in the Cookie Settings panel. The website may also load third-party resources that operate under their own technical and privacy rules. This Cookie Policy explains the categories shown in the consent interface and how visitors can update their choices.
The categories are designed to make privacy controls understandable. A category being visible in the settings panel does not necessarily mean that a corresponding third-party tool is active. Analytics and Marketing remain inactive unless suitable integrations are added and configured.
Necessary Technologies
Necessary technologies support functions that are required for the website to operate or for a visitor's privacy choice to be remembered. These technologies are not used to build advertising profiles. On AusHotelGuide, essential browser storage is used to retain the cookie-consent selection so the website can respect it on later page views.
The consent record is stored in localStorage using the key aushotelguide_consent. It
contains a value indicating that Essential is active, the selected state of optional categories and an
update timestamp. Without this storage, the website would not reliably know that a visitor had already
accepted, rejected or customised optional settings.
Because Essential supports the privacy-control mechanism itself, it is shown as always enabled in the Cookie Settings panel. Visitors can still remove the stored value manually through browser site-data controls, although doing so will cause the consent banner to appear again.
Preference Storage
The Preferences category is intended for optional settings that make the website more convenient without being strictly necessary for a page to function. Examples could include remembering display choices, preferred interface settings or other non-essential options introduced in the future.
At present, selecting Preferences records that choice in the local consent object. The website does not use that category to create a behavioural profile or to activate a separate personalisation platform. If additional preference features are introduced, this section should be updated to explain what is remembered and why.
You can turn Preferences on or off independently through Cookie Settings. Changing the setting replaces the locally stored consent record with your latest selection.
Analytics
Analytics technologies can help website operators understand how visitors use a site, such as which pages are viewed, how users move between sections, what devices are common and where performance problems occur. Depending on the tool, analytics may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers or request information.
AusHotelGuide does not currently load an analytics platform through this static website build. The Analytics toggle is available so the consent interface is ready to distinguish this category if audience-measurement tools are added later. Until such an integration is configured, selecting Analytics does not by itself load Google Analytics or another analytics script.
If analytics are introduced, the implementation should respect the saved consent setting and the policy should identify the relevant provider, the purpose of the measurement and any material storage or retention details.
Marketing
Marketing technologies can be used to measure advertising campaigns, remember interactions with promotional content, create audience segments or support retargeting across websites. These tools can involve cookies, pixels, tags or identifiers provided by advertising networks and social platforms.
AusHotelGuide does not currently load marketing, advertising or retargeting scripts through this static website build. The Marketing toggle therefore represents an optional category that remains inactive unless a suitable marketing integration is added in the future.
If marketing technologies are introduced, they should not be treated as Essential. The consent interface and this policy should be updated so visitors can understand which providers are involved and can make an informed choice before optional marketing technologies are activated.
Third-Party Embeds
Some content can be delivered from third-party servers rather than directly from AusHotelGuide.com. Examples include map embeds, externally hosted fonts, icon libraries, video players, reservation widgets or social-media content. When a third-party resource loads, the visitor's browser may communicate directly with that provider.
This communication can include technical request information such as IP address, browser type, device information, page URL and time of access. The third party may also use its own cookies or storage if its service is configured to do so. Those practices are governed by the provider's own policies.
Where a third-party embed is optional and capable of tracking visitors, it should be considered separately from essential website functionality. AusHotelGuide may replace or delay an embed if that is necessary to align the technical behaviour with the privacy choices presented to visitors.
Google Maps
The Contact page includes an embedded Google Map so visitors can view the Broadbeach location in context. The map is served by Google, which means a visitor's browser may connect to Google systems when the map loads.
Google may process technical information and may use cookies or similar technologies according to its own settings, policies and the visitor's relationship with Google services. AusHotelGuide does not control Google's internal processing.
Visitors who prefer not to interact with the map can rely on the written location information on the Contact page. If the website later changes the map to a consent-gated implementation, the map can be withheld until the relevant optional choice has been made.
Managing Preferences
You can reopen the Cookie Settings panel from the footer on any page. The panel shows four categories: Essential, Preferences, Analytics and Marketing. Essential remains enabled; the other categories can be changed individually.
“Accept All” enables every optional category in the saved consent record. “Reject Optional” keeps Essential enabled and turns off Preferences, Analytics and Marketing. “Save My Choices” records the combination selected with the individual switches.
These controls affect the consent state stored by AusHotelGuide. They do not automatically change privacy settings you may have configured separately in your browser, operating system, Google account or other third-party services.
Updating Preferences
When you save a new selection, the website writes a new consent object to localStorage under
aushotelguide_consent. The newest choice replaces the previous choice. A timestamp is saved
with the consent object so the website can record when the settings were last updated.
You can also remove the stored preference manually by clearing site data for AusHotelGuide.com in your browser. Browser menus differ, but these controls are commonly found under Privacy, Cookies, Site Data or Storage settings. Clearing the value means the website will no longer remember your previous selection and the consent banner can appear again.
Blocking all browser storage at the browser level may affect the website's ability to remember cookie settings between page views.
Changes to This Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy should be reviewed whenever the website adds or removes browser storage, analytics, advertising tools, embedded content or other technologies that can affect visitor privacy. The policy should continue to describe what the website actually does rather than simply listing tools that are not in use.
If a change materially affects optional categories, visitors may be asked to review their settings again. The date at the top of this page will be updated when the policy is revised.
